September 12 - Texas Convention Overview The Greater Houston Area Interbranch Council is responsible for local arrangements for the 2010 AAUW Texas State Convention here in Houston next April, so programs this year will focus on convention plans and local logistics. All of the GHAIC branches have a piece of this event to plan. We will share ideas, coordinate plans, and support each other. Spring 2009 ProgramsGREAT SUCCESS: May 4, 2009, Houston-Area Leadership Training Conference...“I thought this was one of the best officer training events I've ever attended...and I've attended plenty! Lots of nuts and bolts, but a good bit of "vision" too...a great combination. You had such a good attendance at the entire event, and so many in the EF/LAF session! Wow! “ Jackie Littleton, AAUW Association Board Member-at-Large In place of the summer leadership conference, this year the state officers will provide a one day training session for branch officers in two locations: Dallas and Houston. They have been married for 40 years and are blessed with five children ranging from ages 33-25. All of their children are university graduates. H.R.H is the first UgoEze (Queen) to be also crowned in America by the Greater Owerri Community from Imo-State, Nigeria, West Africa.. She holds both B.Sc. and M.A degrees in Nutritional Science. She as traveled quite extensively including going on medical missions with the Owerri Women Association of Houston. On these missions she served as a nutritionist, alongside medical doctors, nurses, pharmacist and other medical professionals. She as been assisting less fortunate children worldwide by donating clothing, shoes, books and backpacks to them. Her Royal Highness UgoEze Chinyere Obichuku has received over thirty awards for being an outstanding role model, model citizen, and for outstanding community service. These awards were through the media, communities, churches and schools. Her goal is to have her own foundation to help needy children and schools in need.
