About

Our story

An independent, Texas-focused editorial resource on the scholarships, certifications, and career pathways that move women's careers forward.

From a chapter site to a statewide resource

The domain aauwtexas.org previously served as the home of an American Association of University Women (AAUW) Texas chapter. Over time, with chapter activity winding down, the site has been redeveloped into a broader, independent editorial resource — Texas Women's Career & Education Resources — covering women's scholarships, certifications, workforce development, and career opportunities across the state.

We are not affiliated with the American Association of University Women, and this site does not represent any AAUW chapter or activity. We've chosen to acknowledge the domain's history openly: the goal is to honor the spirit of the original chapter's mission — supporting women's education and economic advancement — while building something useful at a much wider scope.

What we cover

  • Texas scholarships, grants, and tuition assistance for women
  • Professional certifications and adult education pathways
  • Houston, North Harris County, and Woodlands-area career resources
  • Career advancement in engineering, healthcare, and the skilled trades
  • Mentorship networks and women-led professional associations
  • Financial planning and benefits-optimization for working women

Editorial principles

Every guide we publish is researched against primary Texas sources — the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Texas Workforce Commission, public foundation filings, regional Workforce Solutions boards, and the published programs of named colleges, employers, and associations. We try to be specific where most resource sites are vague, and we try to acknowledge trade-offs honestly.

Geographic focus

Our editorial emphasis is on Houston and the surrounding North Harris County and Montgomery County communities, with statewide coverage of major programs in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and the Permian Basin.
